Sandhurst Cricket Club was first established in 1928 as the Sandhurst Footballers Cricket Club. In 1934 the Club, after success in the matting competition for its first 6 years, we moved into the Bendigo District Cricket Association’s (BDCA) second XI competition. After another successful campaign in the BDCA second XI competition, we moved to the first XI competition in 1938 where they have remained since.
The club won its first 1st XI BDCA premiership in 1941/42. then in the 1957/58 season, we were able to form a strong team once again, winning its second first XI premiership and starting a golden era for the club. In the next 20 year stint the club won nine premierships in the first XI competition.
After a lengthy premiership drought, the club broke through for a 1st XI premiership in 2017/18, taking their tally of premierships to 11 in the BDCA.
Sandhurst is the most central club to Bendigo playing its home matches at Weeroona Oval, less than 1km from Central Bendigo.
The Club currently has Cricket Australia's and Nathan Lyon's preferred spin bowling coach Craig Howard playing and specialist coaching.
